Questions

1. I am online for probably two hours a day. I am usually not online at school unless it is in this class. In which case I am online for eighty minutes. I pretty much spend no time online doing homework; I spend some time online talking to friends on xbox; I don't have a facebook or anything like it, so I am not updating a profile; basically all of my online time would be playing games, and the rest would be looking up stuff. I pretty much don't listen to music, so I am not downloading it. I am also not ever uploading videos.

2. Morris County is somewhat indicative of a typical American county. Most people are online a lot, but usually it is not to that extreme. I would say it is typical because almost every kid is on the internet, but most people do not committ suicide or get in fights because of it. It is only like our community because everyone here is always on the internet.

3. Students can use the internet for research, and the teachers can use projectors and other tools to keep their students attention. Obviously students could use digital technology in an internet class, but they could also use it for almost any other class. In a foreign language class the teacher could send a text of a sentence and have the students try to translate it on the internet. Internet and cell phones are the most common tools simply because students are always using them.

4. An online profile is similar to something like your bedroom because it is all yours and you can make it how you want. The difference is that it is not always who you really are and it is not a real object.

5. Other students in the school will probably not like the girls who were fighting and think they are stupid for fighting in the first place. The girls'parents would be dissappointed in the girls and they would probably be in some sort of trouble. People from other schools would probably think everybody at this school gets in fights, and they wouldn't want to go there.

6. The problem is that anyone can be famous and anything can be said. Because of this people can post things like "What is the best way for you to committ suicide." That little boy saw this and he got ideas on how he would end his life. Also, because anyone can become famous there are people who just follow whatever is trending. People will be making fun of things one day and doing it the next.

7. I think that parents are far too overprotective now. They need to let kids find out things on their own. Parents do not need to be monitoring there kids online activites. Parents probably become overprotective like this because they think something bad is always going to happen. I think parents just need to let their kids be kids and let them do what they want for the most part.

8. A short term effect of bullying and harassing someone may be that they just won't come to school the next day. In a longer term, if a child is bullied a lot, they could even kill themself. That boy was harassed so much that he decided to take his life because he couldn't take it anymore.

9. I have never thought about disconnecting because I do not have any obligation to basically anything accept tv. It would be very easy for me to disconnect. I do not think I would have any problem living without digital technology. I would enjoy that no one would bother me, but I wouldn't enjoy that I couldn't talk to anyone whenever I wanted. I also wouldn't be able to watch tv.
